At today’s round of press conferences held at the Consumer Telematics Show in Las Vegas, Mini announced the first approved app to work in conjunction with its new Mini Connect infotainment system. Pandora, one of North America’s largest internet music streaming providers has partnered with Mini on an App that will allow a fully functional interface between Minis and Apple devices.
Once an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPod Nano is plugged into the Mini, the user will have full control of Pandora using the centered mounted joystick. The interface will mimic the looks and function of the Apple devices, just without the touchscreen interface. User will be able to choose from preexisting stations or even create their own on the go.
Apple devices connect in Minis through either a USB cable or a center armrest mounted dock. No word yet on whether BlueTooth connectivity will be something added down the road. The Pandora App is said to be just the beginning for Mini Connect approved apps and is available for free download through iTunes.
