Mini Debuts Driving Excitement App for Mini Connected

Enthusiastic drivers can now enjoy a new app for Mini Connected called Driving Excitement. The update to the Mini infotainment system lets drivers see vehicle ranging for performance data to engine output.

The first mode in the system is called Condition Check, and shows drivers details like engine temperature, fuel level, outside temperature, and even whether it’s likely to rain. If all the aforementioned conditions are acceptable, the system will declare that everything “Be Mini” — which apparently means that you can fully enjoy your Mini’s performance.

Next up is Force Meter, which uses an accelerometer to report acceleration and cornering forces. The system can record peak cornering forces, as well as driver steering input. Mini says the software will let you know what forces you’re experiencing “mid-way around a quickly-taken corner.” Finally, the Digital Sports Instrument mode shows engine coolant temperature, along with the current engine speed, horsepower produce, and peak torque produced.

Mini Connected also now offers an Excitement mode, which locks out most of the system’s functions and focuses only on showing key driving information. Also included is Dynamic Music, which automatically picks songs to play based on how you’re driving — up-tempo tracks when you’re blasting along backroads, and more relaxed songs during highway cruising.

The Driving Excitement app will be made available to any Mini owner with Mini Connected via a downloadable update.
