Los Angeles 2011: Revised Land Rover DC 100 and DC 100 Sport, Jaguar C-X16 Concepts

Although Land Rover took the wraps off of its DC 100 and DC 100 Sport concepts at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the debut of the duo here in L.A. marks the North American premiere for them. Most notably, the hardtop DC 100 has gotten a fresh paintjob in Heritage Blue with a Candy Weiss-colored roof, which reminds us of the dapper “Alpine Roof” used on the original Land Rovers and Defender models. It also appears to ride slightly higher, and – in press photos, at least – wear an intake snorkel and a roof rack. The bright yellow DC 100 Sport is unchanged for the California show. Both DC 100 concepts were created by Land Rover as previews to what a potential successor to the venerable Defender could be like. No word yet on whether or not these are close to the final product, but according to LR design director Gerry McGovern 90 percent of the coverage on the DC 100 has been very positive. However, it’s still very early and the second-generation Defender is slated to go on sale most likely no sooner than as a 2017 model year car.

Jaguar also repainted its Frankfurt Motor Show star for Los Angeles, as the company is showing the drop-dead gorgeous C-X16 concept bathed in gleaming Neutron White paint. Nothing else has changed, leaving the hybrid supercharged, direct-injected 3.0-liter V-6 (good for 374 hp 332 lb-ft of torque) and eight-speed automatic intact. We do have to say, that no matter the hue, this is one pretty kitty.
