Los Angeles 2010: Dodge Durango and Charger Debut

Chrysler’s product renaissance is in full swing now, led by the new Durango and Charger at the 2010 L.A. Auto Show.

Dodge CEO Ralph Gilles had plenty to say about the new models, declaring that the new Charger will “make other vehicles wet their pants.” With regard to the Durango, Gilles challenged journalists present to compare it to a BMW X5.

The new Charger will be powered by a 292-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 or a 370-horsepower V-8 backed by a five-speed automatic transmission. The Durango, meanwhile, will get a 290 horsepower V-6 and a 360-horsepower V-8 and will tow up to 7400 pounds. In nearly all objective measures, the new models easily outclass the ones they replace, especially when it comes to their highly-updated interiors.
