What happens if your brand new Maserati GranTurismo MC breaks down? What kind of loaner will Maserati give you? Maserati doesn’t exactly have an entry level model. Well, if you’re in Europe, we have the answer: Maserati and Alfa Romeo have announced that a limited edition Alfa Romeo Giulietta has been selected as the courtesy car of choice for Maserati’s European dealer network.
The limited edition Alfa Romeo Giulietta for Maserati is a front-drive compact that will be much more familiar in the United States in the near future, as it lends its underpinnings to the upcoming 2013 Dodge Dart. The Giulietta is powered by a 235-hp 1.8-liter turbocharged I-4, and puts its power down to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox – a device many Maserati owners might not be all that familiar with.
Outside, the Giulietta for Maserati gets a unique paint job, bi-xenon headlights, diamond-brushed 18-inch alloy wheels, and oversized brakes with red calipers. Inside is where the Alfa Giulietta for Maserati gets most of the attention. Aside from the standard Alfa affair like the DNA system, Bluetooth and GPS, the Giulietta for Maserati gets “Maserati Brown” full-grain Venere leather seats, “Alfa Romeo for Maserati” embossing on the dashboard, and an aluminum kick plate with “Giulietta” and “Maserati” engraved on it.
Alfa Romeo will build just 100 Giulietta for Maseratis, and they will be available solely as courtesy cars for European Maserati owners.
