On its Japanese-market Website, Lexus revealed that production of its aging SC430 will cease over the summer. To bid the current car farewell, the brand is offering Japanese customers a limited “The Eternal Jewel” edition.
From what we can tell, the Eternal Jewel SC will largely be a special appearance package. When the car goes on sale in March, customers will be able to customize their SC with 14 different interior leather schemes, as well as different finishes for the folding hardtop. An “Eternal Jewel” engraving inside also helps denote the car as a special edition. Only 200 examples of “The Eternal Jewel” are scheduled for construction at around $83,061.
Although the end of this SC may be nigh, we highly doubt Lexus will rid itself of the SC moniker altogether. We think a new fixed-roof coupe — perhaps based upon the platform of theGS — could make for a good spiritual successor to the original SC.
