Leaping Cat News: 2012 Jaguar XKR-S Drifting, XFR-S Being Considered

Jaguar released a video of the Jaguar XKR-S playing in the snow and on the ice in Finland and we also heard a rumor about a possible future Jaguar XFR-S.

2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible Loves Snow
The 2012 Jaguar XKR-S competes with the world’s best GTs on the streets and the track. Now the British automaker has released a video showing test driver Minna Sillankorva drifting a Jaguar XKR-S convertible on a frozen lake in Hämeenlinna Finland.

The sight of the French Racing Blue convertible against the backdrop of the white snow and the bark of the supercharged V-8 on start-up combines for an intoxicating video. Sillankorva quickly gets sideways in the 550-horsepower drop-top thanks to the 5.0-liter V-8’s 502 lb-ft of torque. Check it out below.

Is a Jaguar XFR-S Coming?
According to British auto rag Autocar’s website Jaguar brass “is seriously considering a hotter ‘S’ version of the Jaguar XFR” sedan. Currently, the XFR is powered by a potent 503 horsepower supercharged 5.0-liter V-8, but rivals BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG surpass that figure by 49 and 46 horsepower, respectively.

If developed, the XFR will likely receive the same “R-S” treatment as the XKR-S; meaning a power boost to 550 horsepower and the requisite chassis upgrades, aggressive styling treatment, and throaty exhaust. Although, an XFR-S hasn’t been confirmed if it does see production pricing should increase to be in line with its rivals, the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, and the BMW M5.
