Leaked? Exterior Shot of Upcoming 2012 Mercedes-Benz B-Class

/strong>An Italian blog claims to have an official exterior image of the upcoming 2012 Mercedes-Benz B-Class. The blog provides only one photo, shot from the front three quarter angle. The styling similarities between the baby Benz tourer and its larger brother the R-Class are evident, such as the minivan-like proportions, upright grille, and sharply-angled rear-quarter window.

Back in May, we caught a heavily-camouflaged B-Class testing in Europe. The LED daytime running lights we saw on that test mule appear to have carried over to the production model, but the three-slatted grille gives way to a simpler two-bar design. The dramatic character lines shown on the Concept A-Class, however, appear to have made it to production.

Mercedes released a few teasers of the B-Class last month, first with a detailed press-release discussing the technological bits and most recently shots of the interior. There’s still no confirmation if the B-Class is destined for the United States, but we’ve seen a few signs indicating that it should: the A-Class, its front-wheel drive platform mate, is confirmed to arrive here and a couple B-Class testers were recently caught testing in California. The 2012 B-Class will be the first of four models on Mercedes’ new MFA front-wheel drive architecture, which include the upcoming A-Class, a small crossover, and a smaller variant of the CLS four-door coupe.

We should know for certain closer to its official launch at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
