Leaked: Catalog Reveals Mugen 2015 Honda Fit

Honda recently unveiled the all-new 2015 Fit subcompact and Mugen, the tuner company that specializes in Honda, is already hard at work developing modifications for the small hatchback.

Details on Mugen’s plan appeared on French website, which claims to have leaked images from the tuner’s catalog. The initial modifications appear to be nothing more than body kits that include 17-inch wheels, revised front clip with large air dams, a new front grille, side skirts, rear spoiler, and tow hooks. Mugen is reportedly preparing two versions, with the first being an S package and the second dedicated to the new RS model.

As previously reported, the 2015 Honda Fit will be offered with three powertrains. In addition to the base engine (powered by a 1.3-liter inline-four), the 2015 Fit will include a new hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.5-liter gas engine and an electric motor (with a new intelligent dual-clutch drive system). Additionally, a range-topping RS performance variant gets a high-revving 1.5-liter I-4 mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

That said, we’re eager to see if Mugen has more in store for Honda’s new subcompact. We also wonder if the tuner and automaker will work together to develop and sell a special model in the States. Honda previously sold a limited edition Civic Mugen Si (based on the last-generation model) in the U.S., but buyers were deterred by its $30,000 price tag, which was about $8000 more than stock. Still, the upgraded wheels, exhaust, and other modifications (the powertrain was untouched) made the compact even more fun to drive.
