If you’ve been itching for more details on the 2012 BMW 3-Series, perhaps this may provide some relief. The crafty folks at BMWBlog have gotten their hands on the dealer ordering guide for the new 3, and have been nice enough to post all the details for everyone to see — making it a little easier to start planning in advance how to customize your new Bimmer.
Standard equipment includes an eight-speed automatic transmission (a six-speed manual also available), a 6.5-inch color display with iDrive controller, Bluetooth phone connectivity, and an engine start/stop function. The guide also goes more into depth about what to expect from each of the three optional “Line” design packages: Sport Line, Luxury Line, and Modern Line, with an easy-to-read chart describing exterior and interior features. An M Sport line will also be available, but not until July 2012, so details on the package haven’t been released.
A couple of other standout optional packages include the Technology package, which throws in a navigation system and head-up display, and a Premium Sound package that includes Sirius satellite radio.
Production of the 328i and 335i models began earlier this week, but only to provide initial dealer stock. Each dealership will receive only three (two 328is, one 335i) before the February 11, 2012 retail launch. However, dealers are already taking orders for new Bimmers that will start production in January 2012.
