The F-Type is one of the most exciting Jaguars to debut in quite a while, and on the latest episode of Wide Open Throttle, we hear about what inspired the car’s design from Jaguar design director Ian Callum himself.
Callum and crew kick off the episode by discussing the lengthy development process for the new Jaguar roadster, which spiritually replaces the legendary E-Type. Callum explains that when he first joined Jaguar, he and his team first had to replace the S-Type, previous-generation XJ and XK. Once Jaguar relaunched with those more modern cars, Callum and the rest of the design team could turn their attention to building the two-seat roadster enthusiasts were waiting for.
The group then delves into the topic of classic Jaguars; the challenge of designing attractive cars to meet modern safety standards; Callum’s brother, Ford designer Moray Callum; and even more on the 2014 F-Type.
