Jaguar Preps Special 2010 XKR Goodwood Special

Even in tough times, the folks at Jaguar know how to put on a good show. For the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the firm will trot out a number of special rides, including a one-off XKR.

According to Mike O’Driscoll, Jaguar’s managing director, the special XKR was “developed to explore the harder side of the XKR’s character.” Sadly, the so-called “Goodwood Special” doesn’t include any significant power boosts, but the 2010 XKR’s supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 isn’t exactly wanting for power.

Engineers have fitted the car with 21-inch aluminum wheels, a lowered suspension, performance exhaust, and other anonymous “performance enhancements.” We hear the graphite finish on the headlamps, grille, and other trim pieces may be destined for production, but the lime paint is quite a departure from British Racing Green…

If that doesn’t catch your fancy, Jaguar’s also bringing along the modified XFR that reached 225 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats, piloted by none other than Paul Gentilozzi. Jag historians, however, may be more impressed by the presence of both a C- and D-type racer, along with the mysterious XJ13 prototype.
