The 2014 Paris auto show is just around the corner, and Infiniti looks to be up to something with its latest teaser that previews a new model that will “share a vision” for the company. We think that this cryptic photo hints at a new flagship concept that will ultimately preview Infiniti’s long-rumored four-door coupe model to sit atop the luxury automaker’s lineup.
Although all we can see so far is a glimpse of this new model’s grille, Infiniti’s swoopy design language is clear here in the curved chrome outline as well as the wave-like crosshairs. Our other clue that this model is a new concept is the teaser text which says, “Soon, Infiniti will share a vision—its soul—on a scale not seen before by the company.” This strongly suggests that this concept will be a large luxury flagship, possibly called the Q80 to sit above the current Q70 sedan.
This wouldn’t be the first time we’ve heard rumors about a new range-topping Infiniti to compete with the likes of the Porsche Panamera, Audi A7, and Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. This new model could be called either Q80 or Q90 and would likely begat a high-performance model down the road in the vein of the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge.
Although it’s possible that this teaser could preview the production version of the Infiniti Q30 compact, we think that car will instead debut at the Los Angeles auto show in November. The Q30 concept was first shown at last year’s Frankfurt auto show and will likely go on sale in the U.S. and Europe in late 2015 as a 2016 model, meaning that September is probably too early for us to see the production version of the Q30.
Stay tuned for the debut of this unknown Infiniti at the 2014 Paris auto show which starts in October.
