Infiniti Puts Essence Concept into Production in Model Form

When Infiniti rolled out its shapely Essence concept at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, we — along with many — hoped the company could push the show car into limited production. One year after, Infiniti’s obliging our wishes — albeit only by means of a scale replica

The objet d’art shown here is formally titled the Infiniti Essence sculpture, and, as its name suggests, is a scale sculpture patterned after the actual show car. Infiniti plans on producing only 300 examples, each crafted from solid resin. Although the sculpture’s lines are simplified, it does sport the same gorgeous curves that made us fall in love with the Essence in the first place.

As was the case with the original concept, Infiniti has once again partnered with Louis Vuitton to create a piece of custom luggage — albeit this time, it’s designed to envelop the Essence, not fit within it. The French luxury goods manufacturer was charged with designing and producing a special carrying case for the Essence Sculpture, each patterned after the custom Damier Graphite luggage set shown in the full-size show car.

We haven’t received a precise date for availability, but Infiniti suggests the Essence Sculpture will go on sale in December, perhaps making it the ultimate holiday gift for the Infiniti fan in your life. Be prepared, however, to pay a steep price for the honor of setting an Essence on your mantle. Infiniti says each sculpture will cost $300, but customers will need to special-order the Louis Vuitton case separately.
