Inaugural Historics at Brooklands to Auction Classic Batmobile Replica

A classic Batmobile replica based on the original television model will be headed to the auction block at the inaugural Historics at Brooklands next month.

The for-sale Batmobile dutifully replicates Adam West and Burt Ward’s original ride from the 1960s “Batman” television show, complete with a Batphone, rear parachute pod, dashboard-mounted TV, and requisite lights. A 1973 Lincoln Continental provided the chassis while coachbuilder Bill Chaplin supplied the iconic bodywork. After its completion in 1988, the Batmobile duplicate did promotional stints in Europe and in the Middle East, on occasion alongside West himself.

“Classic cars, and this one in particular, should be driven to be enjoyed, and I’ve loved taking it on the road over the years,” said Mark Perkins, the Batmobile’s original owner. “However, my work with Historics at Brooklands will leave me little time to do so in the future, and so sadly it’s time someone else derived pleasure of ownership.”

The road-ready Batmobile tribute car will also come with numerous print clippings and documentation that trace the vehicle’s life and media appearances since birth.

The inaugural Historics at Brooklands auction will be held in Surrey in the U.K. on June 2.
