In an effort to lure more customers into dealerships, Hyundai will offer a free three-month subscription to XM satellite radio for Certified Pre-Owned vehicles. Hyundai and Sirius XM Radio announced Tuesday that they are extending the benefit already available to new car buyers to purchasers of Certified Pre-Owned Hyundais factory-equipped with XM radio.
Don’t expect Hyundai to retro-fit that 1989 Excel hatchback you’ve been eyeing at the used car lot. The benefit only applies to Certified Pre-Owned vehicles already factory- equipped with XM.
“Hyundai drivers have come to expect high quality, reliability and safety across our entire model lineup,” said Jose Froehlich, Manager, Hyundai Certified Pre-Owned, Hyundai Motor America. Froehlich believes SiriusXM’s more than 170 channels will add to the experience of a Certified Pre-Owned Hyundai.
To be eligible for Certified Pre-Owned status, Hyundai vehicles must be 2007 or newer and pass a 150 point inspection. Coincidentally 2007 was the first year Hyundai offered XM radio standard on the 2007 Santa Fe, Sonata, Azera, and Elantra.
This is another effort by Hyundai to lure customers into Hyundai showrooms along with its 10-year/100,000-mile power train warranty and the recently announced Trade-in Value Guarantee for new car buyers.
Would the added bonus of a trial subscription of Sirius XM make you more willing to consider a Hyundai for your next used car purchase? Should other automakers do the same? Share your thoughts below.
