Honda to Debut New Small Concept Car in India

It’s not too surprising that Honda’s eying a piece of the small car segment in India, so it’s also not surprising that the Japanese automaker plans to debut its “New Small Concept” show car at the 2010 New Delhi Auto Expo.

Honda describes the NSC as a conceptual version of a “new small-sized vehicle” that is currently being developed especially for India and other emerging markets. Presently, the smallest offering in the Indian market is the Jazz (aka Fit), which retails for approximately $15,000. Tata’s Nano stickers for a much less expensive $2000, and Suzuki’s Maruti, which is priced around $4000, has long been a popular choice in the market.

Should Honda actually build the NSC, expect it to carry a price tag closer to the Maruti. In order to keep costs low, it will likely be assembled within India’s borders.
