Want to see the very first Henessey Venom GT sold to a U.S. customer? Then set your sights on Monterey, California — home of both the famed Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and McCall’s Motorworks Revival.
A quick primer: Hennessey sold its first Venom GT to a customer in the United Arab of Emirates more than a year ago – before its first public debut, which was pushed back multiple times last year. That car eventually materialized, unannounced, at Southern California’s Cars and Coffee meet in November.
Then chassis number four made its European debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. The yellow “bug killer” (Hennessey’s jab at the Bugatti Veyron) then traveled to Hennessey’s Southern California Open House of his new Lake Forest, shop at the end of last month.
Now that car, which is the first delivered to a U.S. customer, will appear Wednesday August 17, at McCall’s Motorworks Revival – the kick-off for the Monterey/Pebble Beach weekend held each year at the Monterey Jet Center.
“We are very excited to have the opportunity to show the Venom GT to our friends and fellow enthusiasts at what has become one of the biggest and best car enthusiast events in the world,” said Don Goldman, CEO of Hennessey Performance (HPE), in a press release. “Gordon McCall’s Motorworks Revival combines serious car enthusiasts, world-class cars and aircraft, all in one fantastic party.”
After the initial debut the 1200-horsepower, $950,000 American supercar will spend Thursday through Saturday on display at the Portola Plaza hotel in Monterey. Hennessey will only build five cars a year, each taking six months to complete. The cars are assembled in Hennessey’s facilities in Sealy, Texas; Lake Forest, California; and Silverstone, England.
“Twelve hundred horsepower combined with in a mid-engine chassis that weighs twelve hundred kilos (2685 lbs) – no other road car and only a handful of race cars can match the power to weight ratio of the Venom GT,” said John Hennessey, HPE president and founder in the same release. “It is a driver’s car, a supercar with a soul that will give you as much speed and performance as you dare ask of it.”
