In case you didn’t think that the Hennessey Venom GT was bonkers enough, the tuner-turner-supercar maker has just introduced its follow-up car. The new Venom GT2 makes an astounding 1500 hp and comes with more aggressive styling.
The Venom GT2 carries over the same 7.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 from the GT, but has been retuned to put down up to an additional 300 hp on E85 fuel. No word on if the 2.2-second 0-to-60-mph time will drop, but top speed for the GT2 is now a ridiculous 287 mph (up from 262 mph). All of that thrust is sent to the rear wheels through an optional seven-speed paddle-shifted transmission; however, weighing in at just 2743 lbs, it won’t take much to get this beast going. We can only assume that the GT’s 15-inch, six-piston front, four-piston rear, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes carry over to the GT2.
Thanks to aerodynamic improvements, the Venom GT2 wears an all-new front fascia with a large, gaping intake and small, diamond-shaped headlights. The look is much more intimidating than the circular treatment on the outgoing GT. A new double-bubble roof is said to help improve headroom in hardtop models.
While there were just six Venom GTs produced, buyers will have a slightly better chance of getting their hands on a GT2 – Hennessey will build seven of them. Each of the Venom GT2s will run a cool $1.25 million, a heady increase of over half-a-million from the original GT. Expect to see the first Hennessey Venom GT2 at some point late next year.
