French Flyer: Citroen DS4 Racing Concept Set for Geneva Show

It seems Citroen may be interested in following in the footsteps of the barely street legal Citroen DS3 Racing model, as the French automaker revealed it’ll show the new Citroen DS4 Racing concept — a look at what a performance-tuned Citroen DS4 could be — at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.

The concept car is based on the current Citroen DS4 five-door with a long list of modifications that showcases the brand’s success and expertise as a World Rally Championship competitor. The Citroen Racing division starts with a base DS4 and stuffs it with a 1.6-liter, turbocharged four-banger tuned to produce 256 hp. Should it get the green light, the DS4 Racing will be the most powerful production Citroen ever built. Ride height has been lowered about 1.4 inches and the front and rear tracks have been widened (2.2 and 3 inches respectively).

The barely street legal Citroen DS4 Racing will also sport larger 19-inch tires and larger brakes, including four-piston calipers up front. A number of lightweight carbon fiber body parts are added including an air diffuser, front splitter, and wheel arch extensions. Finally, a two-tone, matte-gray paintjob caps off the racy-look.

Should the DS4 Racing go on sale, it will likely have a limited production run like the smaller, three-door hatchback DS3 Racing sold a few years ago. Only 1000 examples of the DS3 Racing hatch were produced.
