Pictures do not do Jaguar’s C-X16 Concept justice. While they may convey the coupe’s sinewy character lines and ostentatious red-leather interior, images cannot convey the car’s proportions.
Shorter yet wider than a previous-generation (997) Porsche 911, the C-X16 has all the grace and sense of importance occasion of the Jaguar’s last two-seater coupe, the E-Type. It has a bold, aggressive stance emphasized by the thin horizontal taillights and large, square, trademark Jaguar grille. The headlights are set wide and low on the front end, and use J-shaped LED running lights to draw the coupe’s sharp character line that ends just aft of the rear haunches. The rear is pure classic Jag – a low tail in a fuselage shape with wide hips and a U-shaped rear window. Design director Ian Callum has reinterpreted the well-recognized Jaguar two-seat shape defined 50 years ago and created a thoroughly modern sports car that is purely Jaguar and strikingly beautiful.
