Ford never misses an opportunity to show off its newest products at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas, and this year’s show at the end of October is no different. In addition to trucks, crossovers, and compact cars, the automaker will use SEMA to show off four customized 2013 Ford Fusion sedans.
Michigan-based MRT Performance used a 2013 Ford Fusion with a 240-hp 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo-four engine and all-wheel drive as the basis for its modified car. The car’s black paint contrasts with blue mirrors and wheels, a blue roof, and a blue-painted insert on the hood. The tuning company also claims to have lowered the car and installed its louder “Eco-Flow” exhaust.
Tjin Edition’s eponymous founder Neil also used a 2.0-liter EcoBoost Fusion as his inspiration for this year’s SEMA show. The beige sedan has green Baer brake calipers, brown mirrors, plus LED foglights and running lights from LightWurkZ. Tjin and his team covered the car’s interior in Katzkin leather, and installed an upgraded Scosche Audio sound system. The whole car rides on a Pedders coil-over suspension and 21-inch iForged wheels. A turbocharger upgrade kit and side-exit Magnaflow exhaust are supposed to enhance performance, although Tjin hasn’t released horsepower estimates for its modified car.
Californian body-kit company 3D Carbon likewise took the 2.0-liter version of the 2013 Ford Fusion as its basis for a SEMA show car. The company’s new “Euro-style” white body kit is supposed to make the Fusion look more like a European car, with a lower appearance, gray five-spoke wheels, and red brake calipers to boot.
Michigan’s Ice Nine Group was the only one of the four tuners to elect a 2013 Ford Fusion with a manual transmission and the 178-hp 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine. The company claims its tuner car has “road race styling” for enthusiasts who want to take their daily driver to the track. That includes a loud green paint job, a big black rear wing, a contrasting black roof, and a big-brake kit behind black five-spoke wheels.
All four versions of the 2013 Ford Fusion will make their official debuts when the SEMA show opens on October 30.
