Press is officially joining Renault-Nissan after having spent nearly four months circulating among dealers in the United States, Europe, and Japan. A spokesman for the Renault-Nissan alliance confirmed that Press has “already begun providing substantial input.”
Prior to joining Renault-Nissan, 63-year-old Press had a career with Toyota that spanned more than three decades, rising in the ranks to become the first American head of its U.S. division and member of its board of directors. He was most recently deputy chief executive officer of Chrysler while the brand was managed by Cerberus.
Automobile Magazine nearly named Press our “Person of the Year” in 2009, so we’ll be waiting to see what kind of effect he’ll have on the French-Japanese automaker.
