The new Ford Taurus took a decisively bold step away from the Blue Oval’s sedan formula of old but it’s paying off with improving resale values.
The current models are proving to sit well with consumers, a vitally important sign as the previous-generation Taurus may best be remembered as rental fleet specials. On average, the 2010 Taurus is earning an average resale value that is 39-percent higher than a 2009 model. The figure can feel abstract but for a model change year over year, a near 40-percent jump qualifies the new Taurus to be a pretty substantial update.
“The successful product launch of the 2010 Ford Taurus coupled with the vehicle’s best-in-class quality, upscale design and state-of-the-art technology has resulted in a sharp improvement for the brand,” said Rose Peng, manager of Global Lifecycle Analytics Department.
Through July, Ford has sold 41,413 Taurus sedans, a 116.4-percent improvement over the same period in 2009. Last month alone, customers took possession of 5046, a 186.7-percent gain. The 2010 Taurus starts at $25,995, including an $825 destination charge.
