Ford Motor Company is now expected to cut the production of more cars and crossovers during the fourth quarter of this year. Ford is probably going to release more details on the cuts when it releases third quarter earnings results this Friday. This will be the fourth time this year that Ford has announced cuts to its North American production plan. Ford sales were down 32 percent this October.
Recent numbers predict the production of 470,000 units in the fourth quarter for North American sales. This compares with 628,790 vehicles produced during the fourth quarter of 2007, according to the Automotive News Data Center.
Ford has produced 1.8 million vehicles through the first nine months of 2008, down 18.3 percent from the same period in 2007. Ford officials have not indicated the extent to which fourth-quarter production could be reduced.
