Fisker to Build 100 Test Karmas Prior to Full Production Start in February

After a slight delay, Fisker Automotive is set to assemble around 100 Karma plug-in hybrid sedans for testing this year. A Finnish contract manufacturer is handling initial production.

Contract manufacturer Valmet Automotive has been assigned the early assembly duties before mass production starts in February. Fisker currently has its sights set on an annual production volume of 15,000 Karmas, which start at $87,900 per car.

Also in the works for the Irvine, California-based electric automaker is the more-affordable Nina midsize sedan, whose project received a boost in the form of a $528 million federal loan last year. Fisker expects to sell the Nina for $39,900 after tax credits.
