Audi-philes have a new photoset to salivate over: the automaker published photos of the first few 2013 RS5 coupes to land on U.S. shores.
To refresh your memory, Audi’s sinewy coupe is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V-8, which is tuned to crank out 450 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent through a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox to all four wheels; however, the Quattro all-wheel drive system has a 40/60 front/rear torque split. Audi pegs the 0-to-62-mph time at a scant 4.6 seconds and the top speed at an impressive 174 mph. To put those numbers in perspective, the BMW M3 is good for 414 hp and the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG produces 451 hp (the ultra-limited edition C63 Black Series, however, produces a whopping 510 hp).
Audi will only sell a limited number of RS5 coupes in the U.S., each with a base price of $69,975, which includes destination charges. As we can see in the pictures, the first cars into the country were painted in shades of Misano Red, Phantom Black, Ibis White, and Daytona Gray. Differentiating the top-spec RS5 from lesser A5 and S5 models are wider front and rear fenders, a 0.79-inch drop in ride height, 19-inch five-spoke wheels, a mesh grille, active rear spoiler, oversized oval exhaust tips, and an aluminum front lip and rear diffuser. Inside, the RS5 gains upgraded sport seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and piano black and aluminum trim.
