Today, Fiat announced the Pop-Bi special edition version of the 500 and 500C for the Japanese market. The Pikachu-colored limited edition is the latest in Japanese-market only special editions, and thankfully this Fiat is a bit, shall we say, more tasteful than the last one we saw.
Little more than a paint an upholstery job, the Pop-Bi will be limited to just 50 models, and distinctive for its split black and Pikachu-yellow paint scheme. The 500 Pop-Bi divides between yellow and black at the car’s beltline, while the 500C Pop-Bi loses the distinctive split-paint job in favor of solid yellow scheme with a black cloth top.
Inside, the automatic-transmission equipped 500 Pop-Bi’s have black upholstery (save for the light-gray roof liner) and yellow trim on the dash providing a visual split between upper and lower parts of the cabin. Other than the color scheme, the Pop-Bi is just a run-of-the-mill Fiat 500, with the 1.2-liter inline-four cylinder engine producing 68-hp and 75 ft-lb of torque. The 50 examples of the 500 and 500C Pop-Bi are currently on sale In Japan for 2,100,000 Yen or around $26,295 at today’s exchange rates.
