We’ve barely gotten to know Ferrari’s new 458 Challenge, but the automaker has already trumped it with a ultimate endurance racecar, the 458 GTC. With its official race debut just months away, the GTC is undergoing a series of strict tests before the season starts.
With ALMS driver Jamie Melo behind the wheel, the 458 GTC got its first true workout at none other than Ferrari’s own Fiorano test track last week. Although snow litters the grounds, the track surface was clear, with the driver and engineers gathering much needed feedback.
Replacing the F430 GT, Ferrari’s newest racecar is based on the 458 Italia and is set to compete in several endurance races around the world. The 458 GTC will make its race debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring event come March, and will likely continue the year with appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans among others.
