Ferrari Confirms New Enzo Hybrid Will Debut by End of 2012

It’s a good thing we were paying attention to Ferrari’s latest quarterly sales release, as the automaker slipped toward the bottom a quote that confirms the next Enzo will debut by the end of the year, and will be the brand’s first hybrid sports car.

“At the end of the year,” Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo is quoted as saying in the release, “we’ll also be unveiling the new Enzo, a limited series model and our first ever hybrid car.”

As we’ve reported, the Enzo replacement is expected to pack a version of the Ferrari FF’s 6.3-liter V-12 tuned to 800 hp, paired with a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) and 120-hp electric motor. This combination would put total output of the limited-edition supercar at 920 hp – up from 660 hp in the previous Enzo (pictured above). We also previously suggested that the Enzo replacement, which is rumored to go by the name F70 when it finally arrives, would be unveiled by the end of 2012.

While Montezemolo’s statement didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already suspect, it’s reassuring to hear it affirmed officially by the automaker.
