Ferrari Chairman Auctions Personal Ferrari for Research

Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo is getting personally involved in the drive for technological innovation by auctioning off his own Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, though the auction doesn’t specify what innovation it’s for.

Montezemolo is auctioning off his 599 to support young researchers working on projects dedicated to technological innovation. The auction is also of special significance as it marks the first Ferrari ever to be auctioned online.

The 599 being auctioned off is painted Red Rosso Monza with 20-inch monolithic wheels. The interior of the car is done in charcoal leather all around, including the headliner and rear bench. It also has several carbon fiber trim pieces.

The auction winner gets a certificate of authenticity with Luca di Montezemolo’s signature to prove the car was indeed his. It will be handed over along with the car in Maranello after the auction closes.
