More power is the last thing that the 562-hp Ferrari 458 Italia needs, but tuner shop Hennessey Performance is blurring the lines between “want” and “need” with their newest creation, the Ferrari 458 Italia Twin Turbo.
The Texas-based tuning shop will officially reveal the Ferrari 458 Italia HPE700 Twin Turbo upgrade at the Concorso Italiano in Monterey, California this weekend. The Hennessey upgrade takes the 458 Italia’s 4.5-liter V-8 engine and adds two low-inertia turbochargers for a mind-boggling total power output of 738 hp and 532 lb-ft of torque, increases of 176 hp and 134 lb-ft over stock. Hennessey says these upgrades mean that the Ferrari 458 Italia Twin Turbo can get to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and reach the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds at 137 mph.
Although the basic twin turbo upgrade package includes just the turbo kit, intercooler, and a reflash for the engine computer and seven-speed dual clutch transmission, Hennessey will also offer other optional upgrades like a carbon fiber front splitter and rear spoiler along, special 20 inch Hennessey wheels, and a KW suspension system with adjustable shocks. Chassis and braking upgrades are minimal due to the Ferrari’s already capable factory setup.
All this extra power doesn’t come cheap, however, with the HPE700 Twin Turbo upgrade coming in at $59,995 on top of the 458 Italia’s already steep MSRP of $233,509. Look for the Hennessey Ferrari 458 Italia Twin Turbo to make its official debut in Monterey tomorrow, August 16, and check out photos of the car and an explosive acceleration video below.
