With Subaru unveiling its BRZ Prologue Concept next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Toyota will be rolling out its FT-86 II Concept — shown earlier this year in Geneva — after giving it a fresh coat of paint.
From this teaser video, it doesn’t look like much has changed with Toyota’s rear-wheel drive coupe concept, besides a new spraying of black paint. The car is the fruit of a development project between Subaru and Toyota that will yield two rear-wheel drive sports coupes, one for each company. In the U.S., Toyota’s car will be sold under the Scion FR-S moniker, elsewhere it’s rumored that it will wear the storied Celica badge. Subaru has named its car the BRZ.
The BRZ will come is around the size of an Audi TT or a Porsche Cayman, so we expect the Toyota version to come in around the same. Subaru version will make its production debut at November’s Los Angeles auto show and will go on sale in the spring of 2012; expect a similar timetable for Toyota’s variant.
