Think Toyota only makes dull cars? Then explain these teasers for the Toyota Furia concept, which will debut next month at the Detroit auto show. Based on what we can see, the Furia may preview some sort of Toyota sports sedan.
UPDATE: Toyota has just released the second teaser of the Detroit-bound Furia Concept – the car that may preview the new 2014 Toyota Corolla. The latest image shows off the sedan’s taillight, carbon fiber lip spoiler, and swoopy rear-quarter panel. The Furia Concept will be unveiled using thirty of Samsung’s new 46-inch transparent LCD screens at the 2013 Detroit auto show. The teaser video can be viewed below.
The teasers show what appears to be a sedan with a big carbon-fiber rear spoiler, a carbon-fiber diffuser with a trapezoidal exhaust tip, multi-spoke wheels, door handles with a chrome trim piece, highly styled LED taillights, and bright headlights with a yellow honeycomb light arrangement. A profile shot shows what looks like the outline of a sedan. The fast-paced teaser video also shows lots of fire and uses red lighting, which presumably represents the exciting and sporty aspect of the Furia concept.
There are virtually no clues as to what the Furia concept represents. It could be a pure show car meant to attract the public at the Detroit auto show, or it could be our first glimpse at a new Toyota sports sedan. We’ll have more information closer to the opening of the Detroit show on January 14, 2013.
