The Toyota GT 86 is Toyota’s first true sports car in years, so it’s no surprise that Toyota is amping up its debut with an abundance of photos and video. Toyota Europe recently premiered two videos on its YouTube channel showing the GT 86’s evolution from FT-86 to GT 86, and a test drive of the new sports car, while a Japanese automotive magazine has released its first test drive of the GT 86.
The first video from Toyota Europe chronicles the evolution of the GT 86 from concept to the production version we see today. Among marketing mumbo-gumbo like “Aim: Give form to the intrinsic joy of driving,” the video shows the GT 86’s evolution from the 2009 FT-86 Concept, to the 2011 FT-86 II Concept, and finally the production-ready GT 86 that we see today.
The second video from Toyota Europe is nothing but B-roll of the GT 86 carving up some canyon roads in (presumably) Europe. While the background music drowns out the Subaru-sourced boxer’s growl, the third video features plenty of opportunities to sample the GT 86’s choice engine note.
