Feature Flick: Sculpting The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series In Two Minutes

Shaping a clay model is a task automotive designers labor over for weeks on end. Thanks to the magic of time-lapse videography, however, you can watch Mercedes-Benz stylists sculpt, refine, and ready a SLS AMG Black Series styling buck in less than two minutes.
From what we’re shown here, designers appear to have the SLS AMG Black Series’ shape essentially locked down. The flared fenders, wide rockers, and vented hood are all in place, but designers appear to labor over finessing those features as time wears on. Before long, the design is locked in, Di-NOC film placed over surfaces to replicate paint, and parts cribbed from the real car – notably wheels, lamps, grilles, and so on – are installed to lend a sense of reality.
As you enjoy the magic unfold in hyperspeed, take a moment to play armchair designer: what would you have tweaked on the SLS AMG Black Series? What surface would you have sculpted differently on the clay model you see here? Tell us in the comments section below.
