Feature Flick: Ralph Gilles Laps His 2013 SRT Viper

Gilles hits the track.

Whereas some company executives play golf on the weekends, SRT CEO Ralph Gilles uses his free time to hit the track in a 2013 SRT Viper. Gilles uploaded a video of him putting his personal 2013 SRT Viper through its paces around Michigan’s 2.0-mile Grattan Raceway.

Gilles has worked for Chrysler in various capacities since 1992. In 2009, he was named president and CEO of the Dodge brand, and two years later became president and CEO of SRT Brand and Motorsports. In the video posted to YouTube, he took his “daily driven” 2013 SRT Viper (not the car pictured above) to Grattan and posted a one minute, 22 second lap time. The Viper’s 640-hp, 8.4-liter V-10 engine helped Gilles hit an indicated 147 mph on Grattan’s main straight.

“I am still amazed what a daily driven Viper can do on a race track,” Gilles wrote on his Twitter feed.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Gilles getting to grips with a Viper. In 2010, he took part in the Viper Cup racing series, and posted video of him pushing a Dodge Viper ACR-X around Virginia International Raceway. Gilles has also competed in the Targa Newfoundland rally and One Lap of America.
