Feature Flick: Nissan GT-R Engine Makes Its Way into the Juke-R

The Nissan Juke-R is finally getting some life pumped into it, as this next stage of the Juke-GT-R crossbreed operation takes place. The engineers over at Nissan Europe have been kind enough to give us a peek at the process, as the heart of the Nissan GT-R is transplanted into the Juke.

But how are the engineers going to fit the huge 480-hp V-6 engine in the Juke? As one explains, they have taken a jigsaw to the key chassis points that set all the positions, and then the removed the bulkhead. After they place the engine into the space, they build around it. But that’s not the hardest part. Since the monstrous engine creates a lot of heat, engineers have to study the GT-R’s cooling system and incorporate that into the baby Godzilla.

The last video we featured showed how the engineers prepped for this important phase by stripping the Juke, getting the GT-R components ready, and creating the jig. But it’s not a successful transplant if the heart doesn’t beat. The next video (number 5) will show engineers transfer the power to the wheels by fitting in the gearbox and drivetrain.

Check out the operation below.
