Feature Flick: Motor Trend Thrashes the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8

Ask a car guy what the craziest car made by Chrysler’s Street Racing Team is (besides the upcoming Viper) and he’ll probably tell you it’s the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. To see just why that is, you’ll have to take a look at Motor Trend’s newest installment of “Ignition.”

Host Carlos Lago once again climbs into the driver’s seat of a V-8 muscle car, but it’s no Dodge Charger or Challenger. Instead it’s the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, a 5200-pound, 470-hp sport utility vehicle. To rein in that power, Jeep installed Brembo brakes at all four corners, all-wheel drive, and sticky Pirelli tires. All three of those features seem to work pretty well as Lago puts the hopped-up SUV through its paces on the track and on the street.

To see just how the Jeep fared, check out the video below, then let us know what you thought in the comments.
