Feature Flick: Mercedes C63 AMG and SLS AMG Coupe Reviewed

One Mercedes-Benz AMG is good, but nine is much better. The folks at Motor Trend recently sampled nearly every model in the Mercedes-Benz AMG catalog, and host Jessi Lang takes you on a video tour of the lineup in this episode of Wide Open Throttle.

To accommodate the nine AMG models, the video is set on a ranch in Thousand Oaks, Calif. After a brief overview of every model in attendance — including the SLS AMG Coupe and Roadster, SLK55, E63, CLS63, S63, C63 coupe, CL63, and ML63 — Lang takes them out for a test drive.

Lang reviews the SLS AMG coupe first, taking note of the gullwing’s aviation-inspired cabin design. Lang says many of the features are meant to mimic the look of a jet fighter. The Napa-leather covered seats and dash and carbon fiber trim also catch her eye, but as this is the AMG’s flagship after all, Lang is most impressed with the driving experience and V-8 soundtrack.

Next up is the C63 AMG Coupe. Though less powerful than the SLS, the BMW-M3 fighting C63 is still potent at 481 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque from its 6.2-liter V-8. Lang praises the handling and power of this model, and appreciates the improved visibility over the SLS. Unless you work at a Mercedes dealership, seeing nine Mercedes AMGs gathered in one place is a rare – and awesome – sight. Check out the full episode below.
