Feature Flick: John Varvatos Unboxes His Chrysler 300 in Manhattan

If you’re a regular follower of one of the many tech enthusiast blogs, you’re probably familiar with the term “unboxing.” It refers to the anticipation and ceremony of receiving and unpacking one of the first of a rare or highly sought-after electronic device, and is a staple of tech blog web videos. The importance of packaging is so important to some tech companies that they spend significant amounts of time and money in the product packaging itself, most famously Apple, which has detailed specifications and requirements for product labeling, design, and even the thickness and quality of the cardstock of its packaging.

Chrysler’s version of “unboxing” is a lot less pretentious, with the 2013 Chrysler 300 John Varvatos Edition getting a ride in an 18-wheeler trailer from Detroit to New York, where it’s unloaded for delivery to its namesake, renowned fashion designer and Detroit native John Varvatos in front of his flagship store in Manhattan. After giving it a brief inspection, his passenger gives his nod of approval, and the two get in the car.

Among the custom touches to the John Varvatos Edition 300 are special gauges, an analog clock with the John Varvatos logo, Poltrona Frau leather, and titanium-finish 20-inch wheels. If you like the look of the John Varvatos 300, act fast, since only 2000 will be made.
