Feature Flick: Jaguar Teases the F-Type Again

“Not worshiping the ashes of Jaguar’s past, but passing on the flame to Jaguar’s future. And F-Type is the future,” says Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar global brand director, in a voice over. Paired with images of classic E-Type sports, the latest teaser video for Jaguar’s upcoming F-Type sports car has our hair standing on end.

The caption on the video reads “We can only show you a little. But we can tell you, it will be powerful, it will be instinctive, and it will be desired. The F-Type is our future. What do you desire most from Jaguar’s future?” Well, we can tell you more about Jaguar’s future: it’s already known that the 2014 F-Type will come with three engine choices – the 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 from the Range Rover Evoque tuned to 240 hp, a 380-hp supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 (of which the video below tantalizes us with), and a-yet-to-be-named variant of Jaguar’s 5.0-liter V-8.

If you want to know that the future of Jaguar looks like, just take a gander at the C-X16 Concept from the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. While the F-Type will initially debut as a roadster, it will draw heavily on the near-production-ready C-X16. Spy shots of the F-Type have revealed that the concept’s low, deep, square grille will make it to production, as will the sinewy hips. Since we have yet to see a hardtop F-Type, it’s too early to say if the C-X16’s teardrop-shaped rear glass will make it to dealerships.

It’s expected that the veil will lift on the 2014 F-Type at this fall’s Paris Motor Show; for now, take a look and take a listen to the F-Type in the video below.
