This year’s Happy Honda Days series of commercials is no longer hosted by Mr. Opportunity. The cartoon character has been replaced by actor Patrick Warburton (who has voiced various television and movie cartoon characters).
Honda spokesman Patrick Warburton (you may remember him as David Puddy, Elaine’s boyfriend in Seinfeld) stars in the half-minute commercials and informs viewers why this time of year is ripe for buying a new Honda.
In the first commercial Warburton shows his “fake joy” while opening an unwanted gift. He then lets us know the “fake joy” can be avoided by buying someone something they would want, like an all-new Honda Civic, so you can be rewarded with a “real joy face.”
In the second commercial, “Car Gift,” Warburton asks if viewers are millionaires. He says if not, you probably “don’t give cars for presents,” as he knocks the red bow off a new Honda Accord. He talks up the Accord’s ratings in initial quality and then tells us we can’t have that particular car because it’s for his niece, as he puts the bow back on top.
In “Elves” Warburton reminds us that Hondas are built by “real human beings with dedication to quality” and not Elves who are “shoddy craftsmen.”
These are just a few in Honda’s Happy Honda Days series of commercials. Which one is your favorite? And what car, Honda or otherwise, you would like to give or receive this holiday season?
