Feature Flick: Hennessey’s Loud and Tire-Burning CTS-V Wagon

/strong>The Cadillac CTS-V wagon made our list of this year’s All-Stars, impressing us with its performance and sound track from the supercharged V-8 under the hood. Apparently, Hennessey thought the exhaust volume needed to be turned up a notch as you can see (and hear) from its latest video of a V650 Package and Exhaust Dump-equipped CTS-V wagon.

At the start of the video, the driver revs the engine a bit to demonstrate the “normal” exhaust note, which is definitely loud and respectable. But as soon as the driver flips a switch and dumps the exhaust, the wagon emits a loud, eye-opening growl. The video continues on to a massive burnout, shown at two different angles while providing another aural treat–the mechanical whine which could only be made possible from the supercharger. The wagon executes a 1st to 2nd gear burnout and disappears like a smoke and mirrors magic act.

But your eyes aren’t deceiving you. This is raw performance made possible by Hennessey’s V650 Package, which already improves on the stock supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine  similar to the one in the Corvette ZR1. The V650 includes a supercharger pulley and snout upgrade, new headers, intercooler heat exchanger upgrade, high-flow catalytic converters, and Hennessey badging inside and out. Most importantly, the package bumps horsepower up to 658 vs. 556 in stock form, while torque jumps to 661 pound-feet, up from 551.
