The HPE700 upgrade for C6 Corvettes from Hennessey is for Vette owners craving ZR1 levels of performance without the six-figure factory price tag — or, for that matter, the fixed roof panel.
The well-known domestic tuner just announced its newest upgrade kit, which can be retrofitted to any 2008-2011 LS3 powered Corvettes. Tuned for 93 octane fuel, manual transmission Vettes that undergo the HPE700 procedure emerge producing a scalding 707 hp at 6300 rpm.
Hennessey claims their HPE700-tuned Vette can rocket from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds and through the quarter mile in 10.9 seconds at 131 mph. This is faster than the last Corvette ZR1 we tested (0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds at 126.9 mph) back in September.
The main upgrade in the HPE700 kit is a TVS2300 supercharger. Supporting hardware includes a Hennessey high flow air intake system, high flow cylinder heads and camshaft on the intake side and stainless steel long tube headers and high flow catalytic converters on the exhaust side. The fuel pump and injectors have also been upgraded, as well as a lower (160 degree) temperature thermostat. Orchestrating all the upgrades is an HPE engine management calibration, which has been dyno-tuned and road tested. Of course, the upgrades wouldn’t be complete without the requisite Hennessey floormats, exterior badges, engine plaques and serial numbered dash plate. Hennessey offers the HPE700 kit with a three year/36,000 mile warranty.
Demonstrating yet another advantage of the Hennessey package over a factory ZR1, this video of a Hennessey-tuned 2011 Corvette Grand Sport automatic-equipped convertible on Hoosier R6 Road Race Tiresscorches to 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and rips through the quarter mile in 11.15 seconds at 127.37 mph. Impressive.
