Feature Flick: Heffner’s Twin-Turbo Audi R8 Takes to the Track

Wicked powerslides? Check. Hot, six-figure sports car? Check. Turbochargers? Double check. This video shows off Heffner Performance’s latest creation, a twin-turbo Audi R8. Shot at Virginia International Raceway, this high-definition footage proves that sometimes you can’t have too much of a good thing.
The Audi used in the video is equipped with the standard 4.2-liter V-8, but also packs Heffner’s bolt-on twin-turbo setup—bumping output to a claimed 630 horsepower! The R8 is first seen sliding all over the place, literally scrambling for traction. Then we see the tuned German sports car tackle VIR’s scenic road course with what looks like minimal effort. While much of the video’s excitement can be attributed to the dramatic music and good editing, the twin-turbo Audi does look pretty good on the track.
In addition to a kit for the standard Audi R8’s V-8 engine, Heffner offers one for the 5.2-liter V-10 as well. Claiming 725 horsepower to the wheels, this kit turns an already potent car into one mean tire-burning machine. That sounds plenty excessive. Not that we’re complaining.
