Feature Flick: GTI Edition 35 Ad Sells Car as Aphrodisiac

The Volkswagen GTI Edition 35, has received its first European ad – one that’s loaded with suggestive visuals that a dirty mind might read too far into. Showing that this special edition GTI is thrilling in a number of ways, the video features a woman who has a near-orgasmic experience driving the Edition 35.

As the woman enters the Edition 35’s cabin, the camera not so subtly focuses on the red-piped sport seats and exclusive “35” door sill guards. The woman caresses the steering wheel, gasping in apparent anticipation before hitting the engine start button. We then see a flood of what we can only assume is supposed to be gasoline rounding a bend of a pipe. By movie magic, the golden fuel is then seen flowing into the woman’s bloodstream. The engine revs while we hear the beat of a heart steadily pounding away. As the garage door slowly opens, we’re treated to a gratuitous close-up of the woman’s lips before she jams into first gear and peels out of the garage.

Now on the road, the Edition 35’s 232-hp turbocharged engine shows its worth as the female driver accelerates through corners – with each turn making her gasp even more. A neat composite shot of the driver’s eye and the Edition 35’s speedometer is shown as the car cruises along a straightaway. After more gasping, more shots of blood vessels, and more close-ups of the woman’s eyes, lips, and skin, the car is then seen taking a banked turn; the driver’s synapses fire wildly as she pulls the handbrake and slides the car. Before coming to a stop, the camera somewhat deliberately revolves around the woman’s lap as more brain cells are shown buzzing with activity and the our vixen pilot breathes a final sigh of satisfaction.

While not the most blatantly sexual car commercial we’ve seen, the ad is more than a little bit suggestive. We can appreciate the occasional innuendo, but we’re not sure that its use always enhances an advertisement. We’d still gladly take the Edition 35 here in the U.S. though, and make sure to get your taste of the titillating ad below.
