Feature Flick: Former Formula 1 Racers Duel in 2013 Ford Fusions

Ford Brazil has reunited former Formula 1 champions Nigel Mansell and Nelson Piquet in a modern-day track battle behind the wheel of 2013 Ford Fusion sedans, and it’s the subject of this Feature Flick. Four videos cover the “Fusion Grand Prix” event.

With Piquet’s win in 1981, he became the first Brazilian to win Formula 1. He won again in 1983 and 1987, while Mansell won the race in 1992. After nearly 25 years, Mansell and Piquet reunite in Porto Alegre, Brazil for the Fusion Grand Prix. The racers familiarize themselves with the all-wheel-drive Ford Fusion Titanium sedans powered by 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engines before some track practice.

When we drove a 2013 Fusion Titanium with the 2.0-liter turbo I-4, we were impressed: “Not only does the Fusion turn in eagerly and resist body roll, but it also snubs body motion yet still takes the edge off bumps. It feels taut and European – though it was developed in the USA.”

While Mansell and Piquet respect each other, they are still very much rivals. In the final video, the Formula 1 legends take their Fusions to the track to see which racer will come out on top. Check out the series of videos below to see which Brazilian Formula 1 winner will win the Fusion Grand Prix.
