Ford has launched a unique marketing campaign to promote the 2013 Fusion. The new midsize car will be featured in an online video campaign called “Random Acts of Fusion” that will put 100 Ford Fusion sedans into the hands of consumers before the car hits dealerships.
As the video below reveals, Random Acts of Fusion is headlined by TV and movie stars Ryan Seacrest, Joel McHale, and Kate Micucci. The clip will first air on the Fox TV network tonight, starting the program that runs through October.
The idea is that regular people can submit their ideas to Ford for a “random act” in a 2013 Fusion. Suggestions at the Random Acts of Fusion website include a road trip, length vacation, or even just a short coffee run in the new car. Ford will pick some of the best ideas and try to bring them to life, by giving selected customers time behind the wheel of the new car. Those excursions will be documented online, as well as in TV and radio commercials. The Random Acts of Fusion website also will feature various other contests and special events in certain regions of the country.
The 2013 Ford Fusion made its debut at the Detroit auto show in January. The new sedan wears bold design language that includes a wide, gaping front grille, strong character lines, and a coupe-like sloping roof. The Ford Fusion will be offered with a choice of three gasoline four-cylinder engines, as well as Hybrid and Energi plug-in hybrid versions. Models with the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine can be optioned with a $295 stop-start feature designed to reduce urban fuel consumption by between 3.5 and 10 percent.
The 2013 Ford Fusion goes on sale this fall.
