After all the rumors and spy shots, we finally know what the 2015 Ford Mustang will look like. Some love it, some hate it, and some are slowly warming up to the combination of contemporary and retro styling details. But however you feel about the new model, there’s no denying that being in production for 50 consecutive years is a big achievement. As part of the festivities surrounding the introduction of the 2015 model, Ford invited the first retail customer of the 1964 ½ model, Gail Wise, to share her story of how she bought her Mustang convertible, two days before the Mustang’s official on-sale date.
A 22 year-old right out of teacher’s college at the time, Wise said she had a long history of owning convertibles in her family, and so she decided she wanted one too. She shared the story of how her charm convinced the salesman at Johnson Ford in Chicago to sell her a Mustang convertible two days before its official on-sale date, causing quite a stir on the drive home.
While our first car stories may not be as significant as Wise’s, we all have one. What is your first car story? Was it new or used? Hand-me-down, or right off the showroom floor? Beater or beauty? Share your story in the comments below.
